Dental Assisting

Would you like to become an integral member of a dental health team? Dental Assistants are educated to perform chairside assisting methods, patient procedures, and related office and laboratory tasks under the direction and supervision of a licensed dentist. The variety of tasks you learn will allow you to be challenged by diverse responsibilities in the delivery of dental care. You will gain knowledge of the basic dental sciences, proficiency in laboratory and clinical skills, and practical experience involving specialized skills.
You will obtain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting using major equipment such as amalgamators, dental units and chairs, model trimmers, oral evacuation equipment, oxygen tanks, personal computers, ultrasonic units, and X-ray units.
Duties of a Dental Assistant may include: assisting a dentist at chair side with basic dental procedures; preparing materials for use by the dentist; cleaning and sterilizing dental instruments; providing education to patients about good dental health; and performing preventive procedures.
You will be trained in valuable clinical, radiographic, and administrative procedures, leading to career opportunities with dental offices, dental supply manufacturers, hospital dental departments, and insurance companies. Additional entry-level positions include dental receptionists, dental insurance clerks, dental supply salespeople, and administrative assistants.

Homeland Security Specialist

The Homeland Security Specialist program will provide you with a solid foundation in planning, implementing, and managing security operations for an organization.

Massage Therapy

Would you like the skills to relieve patients of pain? The Massage Therapy program provides the basic knowledge, tools, ethics, and behaviors that will enable you to successfully practice as a massage therapist in a variety of healthcare settings. You will gain in-depth educational skills that increase your knowledge and develop specialized techniques of massage.
A balance of academic knowledge, technical expertise, clinical skills and manual dexterity can provide you with a competitive advantage in this ever-changing field. You will acquire a solid base of knowledge through instruction and hands-on training in our well-rounded curriculum.
The Massage Therapist program is taught over a three-quarter period, with each quarter encompassing different courses of study.
1. This first quarter includes the following three courses:
  • General biology, medical terminology, and computer basics
  • Body systems
  • General psychology, customer service, and computer basics
2. The second quarter includes the following three courses:
  • Introduction to massage and anatomy/physiology
  • Therapeutic massage
  • Deep tissue sculpting
3. The third quarter includes the following three courses:
  • Sports massage
  • Traumatology
  • Personal fitness and nutrition

You will have the practical experience to obtain employment as a massage therapist in a number of healthcare settings, including medical and rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, and doctors´ and chiropractors´ offices. Opportunities also exist in health spas, hotels, fitness centers, sports organizations, tourist destinations, and cruise ships. There is the possibility of going into private practice as well. Employment is expected to steadily grow over the next few years. Practical Nurse

Would you like to be responsible for the basic bedside care of sick patients? The Practical Nursing program will provide you with the skills and training to oversee and manage the treatment of individuals. You will gain knowledge of basic nursing and patient care concepts in a classroom and clinical setting.
You will be trained to take vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. You will observe patients and report adverse reactions to medications or treatments. You will also collect samples for testing, perform routine laboratory tests, feed patients, and record food and fluid intake.
The Practical Nursing program is comprised of three levels of learning that encompass theory and hands-on training in the following areas:
1. The first level provides an overview of the individual as a system comprised of physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs, including:
  • Therapeutic communication
  • Pharmacology
  • Nutrition
  • Body structure and function
  • 2. The second level provides an evaluation of the influences of social, political, economic, and professional issues on the delivery of nursing care, including:

3. The third level provides essential training to meet the nursing needs of all patients throughout their lives, including:
