Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) is nationally recognized as the standard in this industry. As the industry continues to evolve and adopt new technologies, the demand for people with up-to-date technical skills will remain high. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, “the telecommunications industry provided 1 million wage and salary jobs in 2004.” Business demand will continue to rise as companies increasingly rely on their telecommunications systems to conduct electronic commerce, ordering, record keeping, and video conferencing. WHAT WILL I DO WITH MY EDUCATION? Graduates of Heald’s Telecommunications program can pursue a variety of career paths with cable, cellular, telephone, or electronics companies. You will actively participate in various aspects of building a high-tech telecommunications network. You will engage in cable end preparation, cable pulling and installation, and cable splicing and testing, as well as troubleshoot and configure networks. What’s more, this program provides a solid foundation, should you decide to pursue a certification in Network+ or become a Certified Fiber Optic Technicians (CFOT) or Convergence Technology Professional (CTP).
