Salaries for network administration staff depend on the level of employment and the industry. In 2004 according to The Department of Labor’s Bureau of Statistics, the median income for a computer support specialists was $40,430 a year with the middle 50% earning between $31,000 and $53,000. Software publishers, computer systems design firms and corporate information technology departments paid a few thousand dollars more than the median yearly salary, while educational institutions paid somewhat less than the median. Network administrators earned a median annual salary of $58,190 with telecommunication and computer design firms paying the highest salaries.
